About Wild Italy
Forget the Italy you know from other guide-books,from postcards and films; forget the cities, churches, beach resorts and leaning towers. Instead, get ready to explore uncharted Italy, away from the resorts and tourists — the mountains, lakes, forests and virgin coasts.
Enthralled by Italy’s ‘sublime and infinitely varied countryside’, Jepson has trekked the entire peninsula and selected more than 70 wild places to visit. He has picked out some of the loveliest spots in Sicily and Sardinia and plotted the last few pinpricks of Italian territory, the scattered islands off the Tunisian coast which are some of the most isolated and primitive places in Europe. If it is air and stillness you are after, Jepson is the perfect guide. If it is prose and armchair repose, he is a travel writer with the power to entrance.
‘The first concise guide in English to Italy’s finest walks and landscapes – from Alpine peaks to Sicilian shores – and their flora and fauna.’ — The Daily Telegraph
